Very healthy and steamed, ideal for a good breakfast or dinner. Simple and easy to make too
Ingredients
Idiyappam rice flour - ½ cup
Ragi or finger millet flour – ¾ cup
Water ~ 1 ½ cup (approx)
Grated coconut ( For garnishing )
Salt to taste
A dash of oil
Method
· First boil water by adding salt.
· Mix both the flours and slowly use a spoon and mix in the boiled water to the flour little by little and mix it well till it become a soft and smooth dough. (you may add or reduce the water, infact add little by little till you get a soft dough). Let it cool and then mix with your hand nicely. Use can smear your hands with oil so that it does not stick.
· Then grease the idiyappam or idli moulds with little oil and then take a small amount of dough and pass it in the Idiyappam maker in a circular motion. Sprinkle little grated coconut on top of the idiyappam.
· Keep the idili moulds in a Idili cooker or the idiyappam moulds to a normal cooker and steam for around 10-15 minutes.
Serve this ragi idiyaapam. I feel you don’t need any other dish to eat this with sugar and coconut milk.
