Crispy Honey Chicken

Chinese and a big smile in the face of all the household members, this weekend I had made  vegetable fried rice & hakka noodles to go with this chicken strips.

I am posting a very simple yet a very delicious chicken strips loved by young and the old. I never add ajinomoto to my Chinese cooking, its upto you if you want you can add.

Cooking time : 1 hr 30minutes
Serves : 5 pax

Ingredients

Chicken breasts washed and cleaned – 300 gms (keep in fridge so that its firm)
Corn flour – ½ cup

Batter

Egg – 1 no.
Oil – 1 tbsp
Corn Flour – 1 tbsp
Salt – ½ tsp
White pepper – ½ tsp or to your taste
Ajinomoto – ¼ tsp (Optional)

Sauce for the chicken coating

Red chilli broken – 4 nos.
Tomato ketchup – 4 tbsp
Honey – 3 tbsp
Salt to your taste
Cornf lour dissolved  in ¼ cup of water – 1 tbsp
Sesame seeds – 2 tsp *
Spring onion – green part for garnish

*you can toast  on tawa lightly and then add to the chicken

Method

Cut the chilled chicken into very thin slices and keep aside

Mix all the ingredients for batter, now add in the chicken, give it a good mix and let this sit for one hour.

Heat oil in a kadai. In the meanwhile lets do the next step.

Remove the chicken strips on to a plate so that all the excess batter is drained off. Take ¼ cup corn flour and add the chicken strips into it and then drop this into the hot oil , you need to fry the chicken until golden, drain out and keep aside. Do not fry it over and make it chewy so watch the flame and keep it on low heat.

In a wok or kadai, add 2 tbsp of oil,  add the broken red chillies stir for a minute, reduce the flame and add the ketchup, pepper, honey & salt. Mix well.  Now add the corn flour paste  and give a good mix for a minute and then off the flame.

Its time to add the fried chicken strips and toss it very well, so that all the sauce is nicely incorporated well on to the chicken strips.

Add the sesame seeds and greens of the spring onion and  give it a toss and its ready to serve.

Goes very well with any type of  fried rice or Chinese Noodles J
