Nendhrapazam Pazham Pori/ Ethakkappam/Banana Fritters

If you happen to be in Kerala don’t miss to have this lovely Ripe banana fritters, this is one delicious Kerala snack you can find in any of the tea shops in Kerala as tea time snack.

I prefer to have nice riped ethakka to this snack. Adding yellow colour gives a nice look to the snack.

Ingredients

Ethakka / Nendhrapazam (ripe plantains)  3 nos
All purpose flour  - 1 ¼  cups
Rice flour  -  1 tbsp
Sugar -  1 tbsp (upto your taste level u can reduce or increase)
Turmeric powder – ½  tsp
Salt – ½  tsp
Water – ½ - ¾ cup (add more if needed)
Oil – for deep frying

Method

·         Peel the pazam and then cut into  horizontally into two halves and then slice them vertically to around 3-4 pieces.

·         In a mixing bowl Add all purpose flour, rice flour, turmeric powder,  sugar and salt and mix it well, let everything get incorporated well. Add enough water to get a thick batter (consistency is like bajji batter) and ensure there are no lumps in the batter.

·         Heat oil in a small deep bottom kadai

·         Take a slice of the pazam dip in  the batter and coat it well with the batter and slowly tip them into the oil. Then deep fry it in medium heat oil for about 2-3 minutes or till they become light golden color. Then transfer the pazham pori to a paper towel.

A hot cup of tea / coffee with this is  really awesome.
