Ingredients
Broken
wheat dalia - 1 cup
Mixed
vegetables – ½ cup (small cubes of carrots, beans, peas, potatoes)
Oil
– 2 tbsp
Onion
finely chopped - medium 1 no
Green
chillies fine chopped – 4 nos.
Curry
and coriander leaves – 2 sprigs each
Chopped small tomato – 1 no
Mustard
– ¼ tsp
Peanuts
– 1 tbsp
Channa
dal – 1 tsp
Ginger
– 1 small piece chopped
Method
Wash and soak dalia in two cups of water for thirty minutes
Add 3 cups of water and cook dalia in a pressure cooker, ensure you don’t overcook it.
Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard, channa dal, peanut when they are brown, add in the onion, g.chilli, ginger and curry leaves and let this sauté well.
At this stage add in the vegetables, tomato with little salt and cook this until the vegetables are almost done like.
Now add the cooked dalia and mix well, check the level of the salt and let it remain till the water evaporates and the upma becomes dry.
Garnish with coriander leaves.
