Sago & Kiwi Payasam

After a big break I am back here again. How are  you all doing?

Recently I received a complimentary box of Gold kiwi fruits from Zespri.  I have tried the green ones from Zespri they are so fresh and yummy. This time it was a box of gold Kiwi, they were so firm from out but very sweet, fresh  and yummy, I have never had a gold kiwi earlier and this was the first time I got to taste this delicious fruit. I loved it more than the green one.

Zespri Kiwifruit contain so many vitamins and minerals, they’re truly bursting with natural goodness. The powerful combination of vitamins C and E, potassium, folate, and dietary fibre, gives Zespri Kiwifruit one of the highest nutrient density and adequacy scores compared to other common fruit.  I had made this  payasam with kiwi pulp, it was so delicious.

Nenthrpazam Pradhaman

Happy Vishu and Tamil New Year Greeting to you all!!

A very rich treat to the tongue, the flavor of banana and coconut goes hand in hand. Many of them like to have this pradhaman chilled.  True me too love this chilled.
I personally don’t  like to add cardamom and coconut pieces. I love to add fried jeera which is powdered and added to this recipe as this goes very well with banana and that the flavor of the banana can be felt every mouth as you sip. I you want cardamom and fried coconut pieces do so but avoid the jeera then.
It takes a long process as we need to stand and keep stirring it through out otherwise so its better to do this at ease. Today it just slipped and see my cashews got a bit burnt L

Pori Urandai/ Puffed rice

Everyone  must be wondering why this post now right.
You know what I made this pori urandai and coconut burfee for karthigai and was set to post it the next day and I downloaded all the pictures from  my camera to the lappy and then wisely wiped off all the pictures from my camera. Unfortunately it was destined for this post to be delayed and  what happened  was my lappy wouldn’t move a head at all  as it went blank – reason the whole charger point was not working. So all photos stuck there and no choice had to wait L. Just couple of days back I got my lappy repaired and retirieved my pictures from there J

Karthigai Deepam is a festival of lights celebrated in the Tamil month of Karthigai. All the houses will be decked up with rows and rows of lamps and it is a beautiful sight to see.
I have used the ordinary puffed rice  which is easily available in all supermarkets to make this recipe.
Makes : 14  to 16 medium size balls

Ingredients:
Pori – 4 ¼  cup
Water  - ½ cup
Jaggery- 1 cup
Cardamom powder  & dry ginger powder - a generous pinch of both
Ghee - 1 tsp
